It took me SEVERAL passes to net that 1.85 60' in my signature.
But it too was done on stock suspension and a set of 275/40/17 MT's....oh, with 4.10's as well.

Way too many people, including myself, have a tendency to do the following.

Pick an rpm, dump clutch and mash throttle, so essentially you're launching anywhere from 3K to redline by time you're foot is down.

Work on holding the throttle steady for a moment while you're slipping the clutch out. Almost like you're trying to start quickly from a steep hill I guess is how I would explain it.

Lot's of gas, but still plenty of clutch to ease in, once you're moving, NAIL it.
I learned long ago to launch "slow" to run "fast". I got pretty good on the OEM Goodyears, mostly 2.0 60's.

I only raced on Street Tires ONE time... it was not a good experiance.

First ever trip to the strip in my car, or ever for that matter.

4.10's + 245 continentals + not really good driver at all = 2.226 best...of the 5 runs that night, it was the only 2.2 run at all..

I bogged ALL night.. and finally said screw this and dumped the clutch at 3K....

i usually launh at around 3,5k and slip the clutch just enough to where my tires dont slip but im still in the sweet spot for power. just take alot of practice though on figuring out the perfect rpm

Were you just side-stepping the clutch or were you feathering it out when you busted your axle,

also a 1.65 is a damn good 60' did you pop the wheels off the ground?
