Cams vs. Paint
Come August, I'll have $2400 in scholarship money to spend...And it's going towards my car.
Heres my dilemma:
I have a full range of bolt-ons, and would like Cams to give my car that little extra push. I'm looking at HiTech Stage 2 Cams w/ Beehive Springs. $800 total, without the cost of install. On a VERY good day my car will run a mid/low 13, with cams I see the N/A 12 second 2v in my territory
BUT!
My paint is royally ugly. Every single quarter panel has dings, fading, or clear coat bubbling on it. It bugs the hell out of me.
-Rock nicks on hood/front bumper
-Clear coat damage on top
-Clear coat bubbling/fading on trunk/spoiler
-Spider web crack, ring cracks and fading on rear bumper
-Multiple scratches on fenders
-Two dings, each about the size of a quarter, one on my door, one on the rear right fender well.
Most of the damage was the previous owners fault, but a few things I account to my own fault.
I REALLY want my car to have a new paint job because she's my baby, and I love showering her off But, cams would give me enough jump to beat on pretty much everything in my small town(Except a Z06 and a GT500 that run around.)

Hitech Cams + Springs + More bolt ons(as much as I can afford after the Cam install)
vs.
Paint the car and make it look nice

i would say go for the cams. paint will be expensive and make you paranoid about where you park your car.

I'm already paranoid about where I park my car.

The New Mexico Lottery Scholarship pays my complete tuition. I get a Pell Grant(thats now boosted, thanks to Obama) at $2400. Most people live off Pell Grant money, but I'm pretty financially sound, so I can spoil myself.
