Just get a 5 speed or Cobra if you don't want your auto.

People can say "a built auto will be faster" but that is only for drag racing.

I would personally rather be shifting my own gears around corners but of course I do not drag race.

yeh ill take the car to the strip a few times, but im not going to professionally race it hah! just want something to have fun with!

i pretty much have my auto sold to my buddy! i figure, well the economy isnt getting any better, so ill sell it for $7500 now (which is what i got into it) because i probably wont get much more then that! and the economy is only gonna get worse so there will be deals out there!

id like to find a 01 cobra with less then 60k miles! that would be BA! but id settle for a 2001+ 5spd GT, probably do and exhaust and drop some cams/head work into it later on, make a nice sleeper???

I was/am in the same situation as you.

I am wanting an 03-04 Cobra so i know it is awile down the line.

In my auto i did 3.73 gears + tune and a shift kit(Shift kits are only like $80) just to hold me over until i can afford my Cobra.

All i can say is i love my car all over again. I can scratch going into 3rd gear with my 315s in back and not that i race alot but i have never been beat by a manual GT that didnt have LOTS more power than me.

If anything keep an eye on craigslist and put together a manual swap. It would suck to get rid of a perfectly good car to end up with a lemon...

Im still a rookie in learning here: Question.... Shift Kit? I think I kinda understand what it is but it's meant for auto's allowing them to do what?

I have an 04 GT auto (I don't really want to get rid of) but what is the installation requirements?? etc etc.

well you see, i understand how this economy is, and i know the car isnt going to gain value and will only be worth less as time goes on. I am making most of my money back, which is nice.

adam- i too am wanting a 03-04 cobra, but thats way down the road and i know that! I am wanting a 5spd either GT, Mach or 01 cobra so i can get it down, that way i am fluent in driving manual, i can drive manual now, i am just not the best as ive only done it once or twice for like 10 min

chirping gears isnt impressive... hitting all your gears and keeping traction the entire time is

i watched a bolt on + gears GT run 14.3-14.5 last weekend...no matter who drove it, it ran the exact same times.... he chirped second and third hard, and lost time because of it...track prep wasnt too great, which attributed to the lack of traction

It seems like you made up your mind. You really want a 5spd so buy one. If you get a 01 cobra now there is no reasons to get a 03-04 terminator later. You can just build the hell out of the 4v in the 01 cobra and either throw the SC or Turbo on it. With that being said find a 99/01 cobra. This way you will have buying the car out of the way for good and you can just mod it. But please dont put glasspacks or cherry bombs on it lol ur sig!
