Default Tires: Size vs. Quality

What matters more when it come to tire grip, the width of the contact patch or the compound of the tire?

For example would a 245 NT-05 grip better than a 295 General Exclaim UHP?

id say its a good even combo of both, but more so on the compound. you can have a 315 sumitumo and spin all day long with no effort, or you can have a 255 MT ET street and dead hook.

Profile has MUCH to do with a good launch, but compound is #1 when it comes to the tire itself as mentioned above.
