pypes o/r x with flow 40s?

+1. I had a o/r x with my 40's and it sounded way too raspy for my taste. Swapped it out for an o/r h and loved it.

I am about to put on an o/r x and I have flows as well but have no idea how to tell what series they are...what is an affordable weld in muffler that would sound good with it? I am guessing shipping will eat me alive being in Alaska...not to mention labor to do anything is horrible

that combo isn't too bad from far away, but up close it is horrible. very hollow and metallic sounding.

hey guys, well i got a chance to get under the car today and took a look, they are definately flowmasters but they are NOT stainless steel, i am curious to know what they are becaise they are not like the typical flowmasters, at least not like the ones on my 2001 Ram 1500 truck which looked painted, i tried to take a decent pictured but failed, heres a couple of rough pics

You posted the patent number you fool. Get a picture of any other numbers on the muffler.

I'm gonna say 40 series, if you look at the first pic, the left muffler has 409 S (I googled "Flowmaster 409 S") stamped into the end.

BTW, nice thread hijackage.
