Finally with my Stang again...new pics

Looking at the exif data he used a canon 50D with some long exposures (~15 seconds) so Id say yes on the tripod. Now if he can do that handheld... I sure hope he's a sniper in the military ....
Excellent shots especially trying to capture lightning for the first time! And to get your car in decent exposure too?? Bravo!!

thanks everyone for the kind words. the second one is definitely the best of the lightning ones i got.
paintball - the lightning was several miles away, although it doesnt look like it in the pics. i had just cleaned the car that day, and wanted to go out an get some night time photos of it, and it started storming south of wichita. lucky me
mustang3gt07 - as bill w said, it was a canon 50d, and the shutter speeds were anywhere from 10 to 15 seconds...i took so many pictures like that that night, and only 5 or 6 actually had lightning in them. i think the lens i was using was my ef-s 17-85mm 4-5.6 is, my tripod is a sunpak my mom got me for christmas after my first deployment, and i was also using a remote shutter release.
paintball - i use turtle wax ice wax for on my car, and it is also great for use on plastic parts as well. the wax itself doesnt last long at all, being a synthetic wax, but it takes me less than 30 minutes to apply and remove from my car after a wash, and the bugs from the trip washed right off without a high pressure hose. i highly suggest you give it a try, very impressive stuff.
again, thanks for the compliments people...about 2 months or so and i leave germany to be with my car again...oh yeah, and the wife too. i will definitely be getting some more good pics, and hopefully be doing more work to her before i deploy again.

i actually purposely underexposed the pictures a little, so the ones with lightning are exposed just about perfect. lightning was fun to take pics of, now i want to get my photoshop re-installed on my comp to tweak them a bit,
