Or you can just READ what the A/f gauge says while at WOT.. not that hard dude. you dont need software to show you an instantaneous figure on a gauge.. if you want to log over time then yet.. u need some software.. but that software COMES with every a/f setup.

On a side note.. I am not trying to be a dick but I think your trying to reinvent the wheel here. Your going tot take the plunge and install your OWN camshafts, thats most probably the 2nd or 3rd most difficult thing that you will ever run into on a mod motor. Tuning your car will be a cool breeze compared to that. The beauty of an N/A setup is you REALLY have to try hard to mess something up. Just read up on some basics tuning and the principals of what timing does and you will be a-ok.
Your lucky because you can get more timing added because of the cool weather there. If you have quality octane gas there your car is gonna run like a raped ape.

lol highest octane in alaska is 90 But at least there is no ethanol in it as far as I know. What gauge are you talking about? Does the sniper software display what af ration that car is running or something or are you talking about something I need to buy? Any links if so? Thanks for sticking with me on this. The main reason I am installing the cams myself is I have a very knowledgeable mechanic to help me out or I prob wouldn't try lol

damn the stage 2 cams from hitech are making around 300 whp on most cars it seems. I think that would make the whole deal a little more complicated however. Says you don't have to change springs but I think passing emissions and doing the tune myself would become much more difficult. What type of power is being made on these hitech stg 1's vs the cms?

Here is everything you NEED:
Cams-I would go stage 1 personally. Everything you dewsribed about what you want is a stage 1 cam ballpark.
Sniper Tuner- Easiest most adjustable handheld priced tuner on the market; nuff said on that.
WidebaND A/F Ratio- Just run a search on ebay for WIDEBAND a/f Ratio gauge. I recommend an Innovate Motorsports setup. They are cheap and work VERY well. 200 bucks easily.
If you go stage 2 cams, you need to get valve springs. It is irrisponsable(srry i have no spell check at the computer I am on.. i know i suck at spelling. lol) to not get valve springs with stage 2. Really you should get new valve springs with any new cam, stage doesnt matter.
Like I said earlier I have tuned 2 cars with motor work and both did very well on the road and i gave you the dyno numbers from my buddies car. The sniper can definetly handle the stage 1 cams and you will definetly be able to make a solid tune. BUT you have to make sure you use the proper tools to accomplish your goal(in this case a wideband).
Save up money if you have to to get everything you need.
