I just grab the A-rm with my hand and loosen the top strut bolt with the other.

The spring compressor is only typically used when the spring is over the strut, compressed, and then bolted. That's not how or spring set up works. So basically exactly like livefast1 said.

I actually just did my springs last night along with the shocks and struts. It is rather easy and just requires a jack. There are a bunch of write ups online you can follow

I was all for doing with with a jack, but my friend made me worry lol. I am going with coilovers so I won't have to put the springs back in.

And, how did you guys go about sliding the bolt out. Did you just find that happy spot where they just slid out or did somehow manage to bang em out

just put the jack on the control arm and jack it up until the control arm is being held by the jack. Then just start unbolt the strut. The bolts should come out no problem, worst case scenario you have to pound on the tip of it to get it out.

Then just slowly lower the jack.

hmmm.. i am still looking to take out my isolators... thats ALL you have to do?

1) jack up car
2) unbolt sway bar end links
3) jack up control arm
4) unbolt 2 strut bolts
5) relieve pressure from jack on the control arm and take out spring and remove isolators
6) put spring back in
7) jack up control arm and put 2 strut bolts back in
8) lower jack and connect sway bar end links

DONE

thats it?

Loop a rather large chain around the spring and a arm several times for added safety.
I did that for the backs and it worked like a charm.

I have some of those spring clamps on there now, so I think I will take em off, and just put one on there now for saftey while I take the bolts out. And as for bangin em out, thats pretty hard to do. There is no room to get a swing on a hammer...
