its fairly easy
jack car up, remove front wheels and brakes remove abs sensors from behind the brakes. Take off diff cover and empty fluid. push axles in and remove c clips with a magnet. after c clips are removed. pull axles out. Seals pop out with some extra force. Tap new ones in place with axle seal punch. Reinstall axles, brakes and wheels ect. Skip the gasket for the diff cover. Clean off the surface of the cover and pumpkin and apply a good bead of rtv. Attach cover and tighten bolts up. Fill the fluid with the proper fluid 94-98 gts 80w90 with friction modifer or 85w140 with friction modifer for 99+ cars.

Well I just replaced mine for the second time on my 04 gt, I went to an auto parts store around here and put new seals in and 2 months later they were leaking agian. so this time I just called ford and got it from them, the seal looked so much better then the aftermarket one I got, I figured a seal is a seal but I was wrong.

I got my seal for like 12 bucks a piece and replaced the axle bearings just cuz, they cost like 30 bucks a piece.

Pretty easy install. I did it in my garage. racked up but from diff and put jack stands on the axle, you need to take the wheels and brakes off, then you need to open up the diff by taking the diff cover off. there is a clip on both axles in the diff that you need to take off so you can slide the axle out.

Once you have axle out check to make sure there is no wear on them or any rough spots where the axle bearings and seals go. when installing them all you need to do is get a small piece of wood and just hammer them in softly, put C clips back on the axles in the diff and fill her up, took us about an hour.

cost me about 180 dollars for seals, bearings, gasket maker, and royal purpil diff oil.

lol... and i bet most of that cost was the royal purple!!

...I'm doing my seals today because they've been leaking for a few weeks. I KNEW i should have just replaced them when I replaced the diff clutch packs a couple months ago..

But yeah, its a pretty straight forward job, I think the hardest part is refilling the diff! But i just picked up a hand pump so hopefully it will be easier!
