Wow, I am suprised that MMR let him get by with purchasing such a waste of money. You would think they would egg him on a bit and convince him to throw in some TF heads and better cams or something. MMR quoted me a 800 LB with TF heads and a blower friendly cam profiel so I could boost later, at just under 7k$. AND they said it would easily 375-400rwhp in my car N/A.

Would def have done more research if staying N/A. Talk him into FI, or maybe his dyno numbers will convince him.

He needs boost...and he needs cams. Because without boost he wont see 300rwhp with his setup. And then if he wants to go for broke, he will need some sort of cams to get him up to around 500rwhp or so. So hes up the creek without a paddle at this point unless he wants to drop another chunk of change into boost or cams or nitrous.

Do you guys think he will be around 300/320?
dude all he did was build the motor to handle the power he doesnt have. your friend must have been confused or really doesnt know much because I spoke to someone at Modular a few weeks ago and when we got on the LB subject he recommended ported heads and new cams. This is very unfortunate for your friend. Its great that he is forged now but damn he could have added some nice power at the same time. I would get the heads worked and order some cams before completing the install otherwise he will have nothing to show(feel) for all that money spent.

hell he's up the creek without even a boat at this point. His only option is spend more money to up his power or live with knowing he dropped all that money and added nothing to his power gains.

If he doesnt have a new intake manifold, then just invest in a KB or something. Like a 2.6 or 2.8L blower would finish it off well.

Well I talked to him about getting ported heads and better cams. The reason he said he didn't buy them when he bought the LB was because he was running out of money. LB $4899 + stroker kit ($1k+) + new clutch assembly made quite a tall bill. But I told him all the stuff you guys said on here and he is thinking about doing the heads and cams now. He knew he should have got them in the first place but was thinking he would do them when his pockets rebounded. He hasn't put the motor in yet so if he does do this he will be ordering them today.

Stroker=USELESS ON 4.6L MOD MOTORS!!! That was the biggest waste of money ever. He could have had ported heads and cams for the same money as the stroker kit. So he will kick himself when he finds that out. Plus if he is planning on running to higher rpms, he will have a lot more stress on the rods due to the longer stroke from what im told. Not the best thing ever. Just saying...he really screwed himself with this one. Should have done his research.

Well if his goal was naturally aspirated, a stroker kit could be beneficial with the right heads and cams, but I agree, a stroker kit if you are boosted is a waste of time, it puts too much stress on the rods. The downside, as you stated is that you are limited with the level or RPMs due to the extra stroke length, so its kind of a catch 22. I guess I agree, he should have just put that money towards heads/cams, not a stroker kit.
