I'd really hate to lose mpg, but it seems these cars really like the high rpms

I specifically chose 3.73s because I drive so much (semi-retired, I'm "down" to 30k to 35k a year) and am very pleased. I lost 1.3 MPG (22.8 to 21.5) in overall average fuel economy with the 3.73s.

It is true that the MPG difference between 3.73s and 4.10s is around 1.0 MPG--however the difference between the stock 3.27s and 4.10s is 2.0 to 2.5 MPG--which is something to consider if you drive a lot.

I feel your pain, I isntalled 373's in my car years ago, and like you driving away for the shop i was pissed. The guy that sold me my 373's said that he tried 373's and one week later he want with 410's I wished i had liscened to him and my speedo off about 8mph. it not like the fox bodies, 373's were great

Yeah, I feel more of a difference today. Yeah, I kind of wish I went with 4.10s but I made the decision with 3.73s. I'm happy for now.
There is a place down here that will do a 4R70W to T-5 swap for $2000.

Plans still up in the air. All in all, it's my DD and I'm satisfied for now. Definately better than the 3.27s.

You'll like the 3.73's. Just pick up a tuner and it'll fix your speedo and give u a firmer shift u want in your auto. I went with 4.10s and love em i dont care how much gas mileage i lost it takes off like a rocket n/a and hooks up good. Imo id spend the 2k on a blower rather than go with a tranny swap cause if you going that route id just trade up for a cobra or something already manual.

All you guys who say go with 410's on a S/C Mustang, your'e crazy. Who the hell wants to shift into 5th gear when running the quarter?? You will run out of gear, and yes I hate that quote too, but it's true. I trap at 111-116 mph depending, and I am almost at the top of 4th gear at the end with my 373's.

Yeah, I can always throw in a stall and shift kit. More consistant shifts. BUT I LOVE manual. ahaha. Maybe I'll get a toy down the road thats a manual.

Yes, a blower is in my future. No doubt about that. Now, just narrowing it down.
