Gonna get my car painted soon (hopefully)
The insurance guy is coming tomorrow morning to look at the dent and scatch on my rear quart panel, that was caused by a flying object from a drunk I will more than likely have to get it repainted.....
So, my question is.....will it be worth it to just paint the whole car than to just get one section painted? I'm worried that the paint won't match.
Also, the hood of my car has a lot of chips on it from rocks, etc. If i just do sections of the car, then i would get this painted as well.

Getting the paint to match on a car that is over 5 years old will be tough. I mean, the color itself should be fine, but the clear will be much nicer. Years of UV light fades paint.
I would try to have the entire car painted for a little more money, unless they can simply repair the one area (depends on how big the repair it). Remember, though that insurance companies will only pay for what is necessary.

Well the insurance company is really really working with me on it. I think it'll be really inexpensive and it might be under the $250 dolar deductible. So if thats the case, its all on me and my time

Insurance guy just left. It came out to $473 to fix just the quarter panel and i asked if i could, at the same time, get my hood repainted. That's a no go because of labor costs (figured but had to try)
So now my question is........since i'm just getting the quarter panel repainted, should i just, and only, get the hood repainted instead of the whole car?

I have had shops do alot of stuff under the table, but it depends on wether you have got your estimate yet. You can get an estimate from one place and go to another or get shops to compete, by doing more stuff for you for the same fee.

I would just paint the panels that are damaged. If the paint doesn't match, the insurance company will pay to have the adjacent panels blended, but they won't automatically put it on the estimate. The shop will have to get a supplement for that...oh and the shop won't paint the hood and fix the rock chips for free. You'll have to pay for that yourself if you want that done.
