Default Busted oil pan

So, I decided to change my oil last week, and when I went to put the drain bolt back in, the bolt stripped. I have the worst luck. I left it in temporarily cuz it was only a small leak. So, I figured, take it over to a dealer and get a new bolt, but the mechanic told me that not only was the bolt stripped, the hole in the oil pan was stripped too! He quoted me at abt $900 to get it fixed and I said **** u, I'll do it myself. So, what I am asking is what do I need besides a new pan and a gasket???

You have to take the motor off the mounts and lift it up off the kmember or just drop the kmember to get the pan off. It's not an easy job.

Why couldn't you just retap the hole? Retap the hole and then flush the pan to make sure you have all the metal out ? Wonder why that couldn't work?

If you go to Napa they have an oil drain plug that will fix that situation

Yep they sell plugs that are self tapping and are slightly oversized, just for situations like this. Works just fine too
