Default Just ordered Sniper, got a question..

Well after a bunch of you told me the Sniper software was the perfect fit for me and wanting to do a stage 1 cam from CMS or Hightech I finally bought it. It should be here in a week or so. I Actually bought it used from the Corral because I got a great deal on it. Only has one bullet but I have no need for a second and I can buy one if the need arrises! So, on to the topic. I got to thinking about how I should set my tune up. I MAY get time to tune it and drive it maybe one time before the snow comes and then she will be put up for winter and hopefully either December or Jan I will be ordering my cams. I will make another topic later to see wich one you guys think will fit my needs best. So, the highest octane fuel I have seen anywhere up here is 90. I don't think I can even find 91. They usually sell 87 88.5 (F'in worthless!) and 90. How much is this limit to 90 octane going to hurt my tuning ability? Am I going to be giving up a decent amount of power because of the fuel I am limited to? I assume running a higher octane gas and then running 90 octane fuel with an additive of some type (chemical or off the shelf) would be out of the question? Maybe I am fretting over nothing but I will let you guys be the judge.

Also what difference does the returnless fuel system pressure setting or whatever in Sniper make? Just saw it in some screen shots and didn't know what the advantage to changing it was.

You could always set the fuel octane to 89 in the tune and then use the fine tuning table to slowly up timing a bit...until you get it just right for the 90 octane gas

+1, the 89 octane selection will bump the Global Spark Adder by 2.0°, and add 2.0° to the higher loads and RPM entries in the Spark Borderline table. You can then use the Global Spark and RPM based modifiers in Special Forces to fine tune things (they will add spark to the base changes made by selecting 89 octane).

When you get the package check the firmware version in the interface. Version 14 is the latest version shipped. Version 15 is the same however it's from the field update package.

If you have version 12 or 13 you can do the update to v15 yourself, if you have v14 there is no need to update, if it's a version earlier than 12 then you will need to send it to Delta Force for an update.

Awesome guys thanks for the advice! I can't wait to play with this. I just hope I will get to tune and drive my car before winter hits!

don't use the octane booster things they are worth less your better off with the highest octane you can buy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jbcCr2ll3c

Yeah TONS of people online have posted formulas using xylene (octane rating of 117) and it has been used in race conditions with excellent results as long as ATF or another lubricant is used in conjunction. But that seems kinda pricey to use all the time for a couple more horse power. Is there and option for 90 octane in sniper? I think it's jsut 87 89 93 correct? I may cold use just enough xylene to raise octane rating to 93 to use a 93 tune.
