Default Short throw shifters and transmission?

I have an 02 mustang gt (Stock) with a 5sp transmission. I am wanting to put a short throw shifter in but when i look up shifters they talk about different transmissions. How do i know what trans i have? I heard the MGW short throw is really good. What do you guys think...?

I have a Pro 5.0 short throw and it works very well but the MGW looks like it's more adjustable.
I made an extension to move the shifter handle closer to me so I could stay planted into the seat under acceleration. That made for better shifting qualities out of an already good shifter.
