Default Approaching your dealer with w warranty claim

Gents,

I know that this topic has been discussed to a fault, but there is one point that I haven't come across. As of now, I have a JLT CAI and tune. In the future, if I have any warranty claims, I'd like to hear your advice on how I should bring my car to the dealer. Should I take off the CAI, replace it w the stock airbox, load up the stock tune and then bring in the car? Or should I go in with my current mods and hope I get away with it? If they give me a hard time and I bring my car back to stock and then go back to the same dealer, will they then still give me a hard time since my car used to be modded? Or at that point, would I have to go dealer shopping? I would just like to see how all of you have dealt with this issue in the past.

Thanks for your help!

Most people don't start heavily modding until their warranty expires. I've heard that some dealerships will fix things under warranty as long as nothing aftermarket pertains to where the problem is coming from

+1 as long as the aftermarket part doesn't cause something else to break/fail you should be ok.

I haven't had any issues yet - I'm just concerned that If i ever have an issue, I could get screwed w/ my warranty. Just wanted to hear your guys' thoughts and see what most people here do.

With the economy the way it is i wouldnt risk it. i got hassled about the busted motor mount because i had lowering springs. I put my stock air box and stock plenum back on before i took it in. oh and they also complained about me not having motorcraft spark plugs..

They have to prove the part caused the malfunction. The reason they deny warranties (or try to) is because the "performance parts" are indication of how you use/abuse the car. Abuse is not covered... but they have to prove it. So basically your fine with whatever bolt ons, but n20 or a s/c and your done. It also depends on what happens to break.
