Manul Transmission fluid T-45
I am going to change manual transmission fluid this weekend. The manual recommend Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF for 4.6L Mustang Manual Transmission. But doesnt ATF stands for AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID? This got my lil confused. I believe my mustang have T-45 manual.
I heard good things about Royal Purple but its expensive. Should I ignore the cost or just buy Mobil1 ATF SYNTHETIC manual transmission fluid from my local Autozone. Plus Autozone gives me 10% military discount.
What do you all recommend that I use for T-45.

" In order to identify what kind of Mustang transmission you have, you need to check the door tag on your drivers side door jam. If you look down to the bottom right of the tag, you should see an area labeled "TR." Underneath this label there are 5 letters and numbers. The only one that we are concerned with is the first alpha-numeric character which corresponds to your Mustang Transmission.
If you have a 6 as your first digit, you have five-speed manual, T-45 OD Mustang Transmission. This is the standard Mustang transmission that is found in 1996 to Mid 2001 Mustang GTs as well as 1996 to 1998 Mustang Cobras. If you have a 5 as your first digit, your car came with a T-5 OD Mustang transmission. Finally, if you have a K as the first digit in the "TR" code, you have a TR-3650. This Mustang Transmission is found in mid-2001 to 2004 Mustang GT, the 2003 and 2004 Mach1 and the 2001 Cobra. The 2005-2007 manual Mustang GT's also a T-3650"

There is a persistent "conventional wisdom" that synthetic oils should not be used in the 3650 due to synchro-ring deterioration issues, however I suspect this may be some legacy issue related to the Borg-Warner T-5, and MAYBE the Tremec T-45. Tremec has recommended Mobil-1 synthetic ATF for the 3650 since its introduction--that said, if I had a T-5 or T-45 I would probably use dino oil.
I run RP's Synchromax in my '03 3650, however the bottom line is that it really doesn't matter THAT much. Nearly all contemporary lubricants offered at your FLAPS are far superior to those produced 10 years ago and will meet every manufacturer spec for the last 20 years.

I just confirmed I have T-45 transmission and is it safe to use " Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF " on my 01 GT ?
