I honestly do not to be confrontational, however "then take it back into the shop and put the o/r x on and then run it again" is not "back-to-back" testing.

The last time I dyno'd my car, 3 runs over an hour or so, I got 256/298, 253/294, and 262/305 (the middle run, the one I use for bragging and signatures)--with only minor tweaking of the tune in between runs.

My point is that 5-10 HP differences, and cherry-picking results, over a period of days are meaningless comparisons. To do it right, to test subtle changes, you need 5 runs on each configuration, within at most a couple hours, toss out the high and low, and average the remaining three. This is why you never see such comparisons--they cost a lot...

Again, I don't mean to be a dick (even though I am good at it) but I've been in this industry (in the background) for a number of years--perhaps more than some of you have been able to get it up--and I have seen how the figures don't lie, but the liars' figure, over and over again.

Don't let marketing departments screw with your brain, Ford built a pretty good car here, but it's a 2V GT not a B&A 4V Cobra.

It's true that they restricted the intake with the 65mm TB to make sure you couldn't possibly over-rev the engine (which the OEM COP ignition and OHC are quite capable of doing), then for the same reasons restricted the exhaust with an undersized 2-1/4" pipe, and worst of all gave the car a crappy VERY conservative--even for 87 octane--tune.

This was all done quite purposely to make sure that the average run-of-the-mill jerks that bought GTs would not blow them up while under warranty.

So the solution is, open up the exhaust, fix the tune, and then get a 70mm TB and after market plenum (all of which are 3/4" taller than the stock unit to provide a more gradual bend). Get those three things done and you have done about as much as needs to be done to the intake/tune/exhaust.

I got the UDPs I bought from a fellow forum member on a couple weeks ago, actually broke 3 ribs while doing it (long story, this getting old stuff sucks)--but my main issue is that of the 5 "lifetime" traffic school opportunities Florida offers I have one left; so I have to save it for something good...

The car is plenty fast the way it is (according to the Florida Highway Patrol and SWMBO [She Who Must Be Obeyed]); she will kill me the next time I get a ticket for going 100+...

At Christmas my daughter-on-law asked me if my car was fast--I told her "I don't know, I haven't had is over 138.5 (per the GPS), maybe it's fast"...

Fastest I was ever nailed for was 143 on I-95 in Connecticut, in a '91 Toyota Cressida (same drive train as the Supra)--the cruise control was on...

I caught a "lecture" in the spring of '74 for doing an unspecified speed (160+ according to the Massachusetts State trooper in the 428 Crown Vic) on a well-modified Kawasaki H-2 750. This was on US 6 about 10 miles North of Hyannis, he and I were the only vehicles on the road--it was the "good old days"...

Most recently was in May of '08 when I got tabbed for 123 MPH on an off ramp at I-295 and I-95 in Jacksonville--this was at 12:30 am--it was me and the cop...

I've beat some too--long story but I lit up the brake rotors shedding 60 MPH (the 60 between 130 and 70) on I-10 west of Lake City FL. That was when I realised the stock GT brakes were crap--the "threat detector" lit up and I jammed the brakes hard, when I went by that cop the front rotors must have been cherry red. The cabin filled with smoke and the front rotors were shot, Cobra brakes came next...

My plan is to not have any more serious violations. That and the current state of my retirement savings are why I have decided to not get a blower--much as I would like to hear that whine...
