Purchasing Question - 2002 GT vs 2003 GT vs 2005 GT
#11
now having some "spirited driving" every now and then is assumed in these kinds of cars.
but opinions are like a$$holes and everyone has one when it comes to stuff like this. im just saying to do a little research on the car is all if if its modded and who your buying it from. most times a teen will drive it harder than a 40+ year old guy (assuming the 40+ year old is no ex racer of some sort lol)

Your freakin crazy if you dont get the 2011(if you have money for it). Even if there is issues with the motor/tranny, Ford will issue TSBs and you will be covered. its an all around better car that will absolutely rape any stock GT Ford has ever put out.

Thanks
Thanks for the input guys. I was leaning against the 05 just because of the mileage.
Sure the 5.0 powered car sounds amazing. I also know Ford is good for issuing TSB's. However, the less the car is in the shop the better. While it's there, there is always the risk of damage to it. Sure there's always the chance while driving it to, but then it's in my hands, and I'll take the responsibility for that. Having someone else scratch my baby will **** me off!
I'll wait for the new motor and tranny to prove themselves first. Also, if I buy a SN-95, I won't have to take a massive depreciation hit like I would by buying a new car also. Also property taxes and insurance are less with the older GT. Bottom line is I really like the New Edge body style.
I want to buy it to enjoy, I was originally thinking of buying this for the short term, but hey if I like it, I may decide to keep it for a few years?
I definitely plan on doing some spirited driving, and will definitely row the gears everyday! Like I said, I'd love to screw around with an autocross or two to have some fun.

I'd go in this order...05, 03, 02. The t3650 was a new tranny for 02 and they sucked. 03's seem to have better luck with them. And you said autocross...the 05's come stock with a panhard bar so they should handle better with minor upgrades to the suspension than a new edge would. Plus you usually dont find that high of mileage on a car unless its all highway driving which is less stressful on a car than in town driving. So i'd so 05, then 03, then the 02 as the last choice.

I'd go with option 2. I don't care for shaker hoods and 18" wheels. But that's just me. It was driven only around 5,000 miles per year so it would be my guess that it was garaged during the winter.
A couple of years ago I looked into trading my stock and very clean 2000 GT for a very clean 2005 GT. For the price difference that they wanted I was able to get a supercharger and other mods. I would much rather drive a 370 rwhp 2000 GT than a 260 rwhp 2005 GT.

02's have a lot of TSB's out that might not have been fixed. Just saying...cus i own one that most of them werent done to. And it sucks. Most of the 03's ive seen have most of the things corrected from factory.
