Outrun...badly... by a neon
#22
Pure luck maybe, but I handed it to an SRT Neon a couple weeks ago. Sounded like he had upgrades of some sort (turbo or wastegate maybe; don't know much about those cars). We were almost nose to nose doing about 55 and I knew he was checking me out so I dropped into 4th and stomped it. Gained a car length on him pretty quick but once he spooled I wasn't gaining as much. Think I was still pulling on him after that though, but slowly. I backed off and tapped my brakes at about 90 since I'm not really into doing 130 on public roads. We exchanged courtesy honks at the next light when we parted ways. Anyway, that's my Neon story, just thought I'd share.

Talkled to this guy again today, he was at checkers when I rolled through. He showed me some time slips from brainerd drag, our local 1/8th mile. 6 seconds in a 8th, not bad for a fricken neon.

They can make those things fly. I just hate when they Blow the black smoke all over you. At the Pigeon Forge Rod Run the streets are lined with chairs, and every fricken diesel that didn't have the high stacks would blow that $hit all over you.
