He had no reason to suspect that the emissions items were tampered with, he was simply basing his suspensions on how loud the car was. So, unless there is a noise pollution law, he had no right. A good lawyer would tear him a new one on how he measured the noise and what the legal limit is.

The cop was a dick. Being a smart *** isn't a crime BTW, that is where too many cops let it get personal, which they shouldn't do. 70 in a 35, yeah, that is an impounded car and a night in the slammer here. But performing an inspection on a car based solely on how loud it is, that cop is a dick.

Your problem is that you consented to the search... that was a no no. He could have pulled you though, if you were tearing *** around town and if he suspected that the decibels were too loud because of illegal exhaust and could have looked under the car.

This thread scares me out of an O/R midpipe which is gonna be my next mod haha Cops down here in Utah are **** they'll pull you over for the weirdest minor things haha I'll be walking on eggshells with an O/R pipe, I'm pretty good at being respectful so hopefully I won't have any issues. Sorry OP sometimes you gotta hold your tongue with the po po.

Buy an SLP catted x pipe and buy the straight pipes too and then in a few minutes you go from catted to o/r. Simple as that. But honestly, if youre rolling around a parking lot and the cop comes to give you a hard time, that alone is a no no. You werent on a public road, you were in a private parking lot. He has no right to pull you over in the parking lot except for a loitering violation or if you were disturbing the peace by being too loud and doing burnouts and stuff like that. Now blipping the throttle a little bit in 2nd gear and maybe spinning the tires a little bit is neither of those things. So the cop wasnt being the nicest guy in the world. Where i live, we have guys with o/r x and LM1's(like 4-5 of them...) and none of them get pulled over for noise. So by our standards, the guy was being a MAJOR dick. lol
