BBK lowering springs dont lower your car as much as sportlines and BBK's are linear springs so they arent soft then get hard after they compress a little bit like the sportlines which is why youre fine.

The OP said "I've always been a fan of the fat, rubber hanging over rim "meaty" tire look."

So a 275/40/17 will do just this enough said. I don't think he's concerned with perfect cornering on a road course but why do that with a mustang anyways? It's not the ideal size for that wheel but it looks good and nobody ever has problems with it. I'm glad I went with 275's on the back and would never go back to 245's.

Furthermore a while back one person on this forum said that one of the major online tire stores (I don't remember which one) recommends up to a 275/40/17 for a stock 17" mustang wheel. A major company wouldn't make a recommendation like that if it was dangerous or shouldn't be done.

As Jazzer is implying, you wont find a 275/40 tire to fit on an 8" rim. A 275/40 DRs on a 9" rim will give you that look you want. 9" is actually the minimum rim size nitto recommends for their 275/40 DRs.

You're probably right and I won't find that. However, I believe a major tire sales company with liability involved says it's okay. That presides over a person on the internet (you, and no offense).

The OP wants wider tires. This is probably not the ideal tire (I agree with you) but the key thing here is nobody has had problems or safety concerns with these tires. I think they fit well, look good, and I had no problem mounting them on my wheels or balancing them (NT555s).

I don't want to argue about this really anymore I'm just saying many people I know run the 275's if it was so dangerous people wouldn't be running them.

The issue I have with blogs is that people give out advice and recommendations and don't qualify mis-information (in this case, you did just that). To tell someone it is "OK" because a tire shoppe said it is fine, does NOT jive with manufacturers specs and THEY are the ones ultimately liable for it. I am well aware that many, many people run a 275/40 on an 8" wheel and have reported no problems. This, however, does not make it right and one should KNOW that he/she is going beyond the bounds of the design criteria if recommended to do so by another cosidered by OP to have knowledge on the subject in question.

If someone were to post a thread saying... "I would like to run 500 HP on my 4.6, how do I do this?" I sure as hell hope that someone with knowledge on the subject would chime in and say something to the effect... "the stock 4.6 is considered to be maxed out at nearer to 400 HP, are you planning on building up the internals?"

I am certain there is somebody out there running 600 HP on the stock block and... "has not had any problems".
