^ +1, for the reason stated, also if it were a compression related isse the engine would not sound as good as it does...

Comment-JC316-"Ouch, probably the rings are fried, but I have no idea why. I have never seen a 4.6L with ANY kind of cylinder wear or piston ring issues. Have you checked the compression? I suppose that it could be sucking it in somewhere, PCV maybe."

Reply-I thought maybe it was the pcv so I bought a new one last week and put it in my car. So I know its not that now.

Comment-MU71L4710N-"you bloused your pants kinda low :-P"

Reply-I wear those cuff stuffer things and my boots are only the 8" high ones so they will sit low : P

Comment-7_UP_MUSTANG-"Run a good compression check, and I bet you will find it is OK. I think it is the valve seals or a blocked drain down hole and the oil might be accumulating instead of draining back down to the oil pan. Good luck."

Reply-Hopefully it is just the valve seals, it would be a hell of alot cheaper than new piston rings. Compression test will be coming tomorrow if I actually get my day off so we will see what happens then.

Comment-Cliffyk-"^ +1, for the reason stated, also if it were a compression related isse the engine would not sound as good as it does..."

Reply-The engine is still running as strong as it was the day I bought it. Doesn't feel like I have lost any power (if you would say a 98 NPI motor has power) or anything.

I will keep you guys posted on what the outcome is tomorrow after I get a few tests ran on my car. Keeping my fingers crossed its nothing serious. Hell, if its not the piston rings, I will just use the money I was going to spend on a new engine and go get the stuff I need for a PI swap.

Nope totally forgot about that, you guys are right. Thats why i was confused about it only doing it on decel. I always used to think that bad seals only cause oil seepage when it sits, so youd get the smoke on start up...but sucking it in under decel makes sense. although im sure fixing the seals with it in the car still might be cheeper, but im betting still a pain in the ***.

If it is the seals im just going to buy all new assembled PI heads along with everything else I need for a PI swap. Still should be cheaper than finding a newer engine. Craigslist and ebay works wonders. That is, if I don't get screwed over again.

well a pi head swap would acctually be cheep off ebay...but youd have to hope the heads are in good shape...id say without the tune you could get all the parts for less than 500. cuz people put pi heads and cams on ebay for like 200 bucks...

Did you ever find out what the problem was with the car? My 96 GT just started doing the same thing on Wednesday.
