Default oil pump

all you guys reunning big power, are you useing a factory style pump? just curious if i should just replace with a factory part or consider a slightly better one? of course i wont be running big power anytime soon, but does a factory pump handle 450 rwhp with out any issues?

I think there's plenty of people out there running stock pumps on that kind of power, but if you're rebuilding everything else anyway, no reason not to upgrade. I'll probably run a Melling when the time comes for a rebuild.

Ran the stocker with 400+ for a few years with no issues
Upgraded to the Cobra pump with new heads/cams setup

unless you are running a aluminum block the HO cobra pump is not necessary, or recommend.
