RPM needle sticking, how do I fix this??
I noticed my RPM needle was sticking for a while now...wasn't sure if it was that or a problem with a sensor, but yesterday I got my answer. I started the car and it idled at 3k rpms but the engine sounded like it was idling normally so I tapped on the plastic cover infront of the guages and it dropped back down to normal. It's sticky right around 2-3k rpms and it's only the RPM needle....so what do I do? I don't have overlays or any kind of modifications to the guages everything it stock there. I've never taken the whole thing out, I don't know how easy or hard it would be with the steering wheel in the way but how would I clean the movement of the needle? Any solutions? A step by step would help if possible.

Before this gets too out of hand, there is already another thread open for this issue. You should probably have bumped the other one.

The clusters pretty easy to take out. You can probably find instructions on how to install a new cluster, that will walk you through the process of getting it out. Its really simple though. Couple bolts, and clips, and then you just unplug the wiring adapter that goes in the back, and pull it out.
Once I got it out, I just oiled it through the slots on the back of the cluster, so you don't have to take it completely apart. If my memory recalls I just used WD-40 with the straw adapter, and barely sprayed some on the connection. Then plug it back in and take it for a drive to see if it fixed your problem.
I was experiencing the same thing you were talking about. Tach sticking a say 2000rpm, then jumping to 3000. and the same when the tach was falling. Oil fixed my, wouldn't see why it wouldn't do the same for you.
