seems to me like everything is going to be an estimate unless you take it to Hondata and have them fix it.
I mean, fixing the needles can be done by the methods above, but those are just approximations (for the most part). I don't know about you, but I wouldn't feel right knowing that ALL my needles are off, even by a tiny bit.
Drive next to your friend at a set speed (say 10 mph) and place the needle on at that point.... although that would be stupid to do in a moving vehicle.

No, his car is a Mustang. It's a 2001 Mustang GT, automatic, 100% stock.
He bought these stupid looking gauges that really look ricey (they look like something you'd find in a Honda that is modded out) Sorry didn't mean to confuse you guys. lol

so you guys BOTH have a 99-04 auto Mustang GT?
If so, match speeds and tell him what your readings are (for your tac and spedo) and then get him to match. I dont know how you can drive with the dash out though, is that even possible?
There is a thread floating around here where a guy figured out how to hook a battery up to the cluster to set the gauges to "0". Dunno how to find it. maybe somebody else knows?

I forget what its called, but if you push in and hold the 'reset' button (for the odometer counter) before you start the car, the odometer display turns into something else that shows a bunch of other **** that you can sort through...unless you guys have the cluster totally unplugged or something?
I know that doing it that way shows a digital reading of the RPMs and vehicle speed. It shows a bunch of other numbers...which I would guess some of those would be the coolant temperature and voltage thing for the battery. I doubt there is a reading for the fuel gauge on it though. (actually, there is. look below @ cliffy's post)

You can use the HEC (Hybrid Electronic Cluster) self-diagnostic mode to observe the digital values for each gauge--then place the indicators...

+1
The odometer in test mode will give you digital readout of what you need to know. In order to get the speedometer needle on correctly the rear wheels have to be turning. I jacked up the car with the wheels off the ground, used the odometer reading to run a steady 20 mph and snapped the needle on at 20. If you do not the speedometer will be 7 mph off which is what mine was when I bought the car.
