But really, 75 lbs doesn't make THAT much of a difference does it?
They say for cars slower then 11.0 sec 1/4 mile every 100lbs will increase your trap speed 1mph and lower your ET by .1 sec. Will also be taking it off of the front end of the car. Not a HUGE gain, but every bit helps. Kind of like going from a stock to a tubular K member. If you were to change blocks and switch to a tubular K member and coil overs then you would shave 200lbs off the front end.

My thinking was for about the same price I could buy a nice short block from someone that knows what there doing.

around 400 or so, about the same as the stock motor. I would deff ungrade the clutch, but IMO as long as you dont power shift or anything super hard on it, it should last long enough for you to save for one.

I've seen several guys go big number on stock trans (t-3650-3 or 4). I've read of 2 guys running 700rwhp-ish drag cars and the trannys are holding up. Everyone on here says they are weak but if you look hard enough tons of ppl are making good power.

I'm should be at 630rw or higher next month so we'll see how long it takes before mine goes.

Well my t3650 is on its way out with 48k miles on it and bolt-on power. Now the transmissions in the 03/04 GT's are better as they have the TSB's done on them(i know the 04's do, not sure if the 03's have all of them or not), but I'd be cautious on the stock tranny since your car is an 02 like mine. But MMR is usually pretty good for shortblocks, DSS is decent and so is Livernois but they are more expensive. You can get an MMR1000 shortblock for $3000, which aint bad to hold 1000hp. and i would look into a T56 for a tranny as well. Fuel system, just buy a cobra tank with dual cobra pumps already in there and go for it and then bigger rails and 60lb injectors. Intercooled t trim would work for a blower, or a Novi2000 would also suffice, or you can get a procharger D1. And since you only want 500rwhp, you probably dont even need to do cams. Longtubes would also be advisable at that power level and will help allow the car to breathe better.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go with mmr they seem to have a lot of happy customers. How much hp would I gain if I bought a nice net of cams ?

Well get blower cams since you are planning on getting a blower, and you'll see a small increase in power without the blower, but you'll get a better response from the supercharger with the cams.

if you have the funds go with MMR 800, new clutch, sub-frame connectors, used blower kit w/inner cooler, 60 lb injectors, 3.12 pulley, focus fuel pump w/BAP will yield you up to 470 or so rwhp. If you want more rwhp, i recommend go with dual pump setup, new fuel lines, and heads/cams.
