Default A/C Problems

My air was cool but not ice cold. It was a pound low on freon, but the mechanic could not find a leak. So he shot yellow dye into it so he could view it woith a blacklight in a couple of weeks. Took it back today and the leak he said was comming from the A/C Manifold hose. They told me the part is obsolete and that they would have to take off the hose and bring it somewhere to be rebuilt and welded, at a cost of over two hundred dollars just for the hose. Does this sound right and reasonable?

yea thats pretty expensive I would agree if it was roughly $100.00 its not like there isn't much room to work under there I would look elsewhere. If you didn't live in Texas i would just tell you to delete the AC. makes reaching the starter bolt a hell of a lot easier lol. Good luck!
