What to Expect out of new motor??!?
Hey guys its been a while since I have been on here. But since then I decide to spin a bearing and char some rods. So I decide to build a new motor for the car and I want to know what kind of numbers to expect and also advice as far as exhaust and intakes.
New Motor:
Teksid aluminum block bored .020 over
Steel Cobra Crank
Eagle H beam rods
Forged CP pistons
Stage 3 ported PI heads
Comp Cams 278ah cams
10.5 to 1 compression
Now what should I expect out of it?? Plus exhaust ideas. I was think Kooks longtubes thru Kooks catless X into something. Thanks for any advice.

Get kooks exhaust the whole way back and dump it before the axle. And as far as power, it all depends on who ported the heads and whether you have the cams degreed and set to spec or not. Send the cams to Nick at MHS and have him degree them for you and you'll be set for the cams. If you got like stage 3 fox lake heads, then you would probably see around 320-330rwhp with full exhaust and a decent intake. I think a stock intake would do fine for you as i dont think your shift points are going to be over 7000rpm, but if you want to go aftermarket intake manifold, go with the trickflow i'd say. And get the one that will accept the cobra style throttle body for better air flow.

For an intake, i'd keep your stock CAI. Maybe look into a Accufab or a trick flow t/b & plenum combo. Slap on a STEEDA U/D pullies. As for exhaust, SLP Loudmouth catback or Magnaflow Megnapack would be really rad. I've heard of a few good things about Kooks, i've never known anyone who has used them but I'd be curious to learn more. But your list sounds good that you got there. I'd say w/ that plus full exhaust & tubes + a good tune over 315 hp for sure.

When he was talking about intakes i think he was talking manifolds since he is built and might not know what intake would be best fitted for his application. And for exhaust i think he was mainly referring to headers and midpipe. catback is just sound preference, but headers is all about quality and sizing of the primaries and collector.
Kooks headers are great and i would highly suggest them, along with their midpipes. They also make mufflers and i would get a set of them and dump 'em. Another member on here a while ago had that exact combo and it sounded SICK!!!

Thanks for the responses. I was afraid id get the usual response from people with a K&N and weld in flows. I definitley plan on going with Kooks 1 5/8 to 2.5" into the 2.5" catless x pipe. I do wonder about catback and which direction to go?? I was thinking of getting the LM2s. I do not plan on doing dumps again. Also as far as lower intake manifold the place doing the work says the stock one is fine. Now as far as upper intake (tb/plenum) I have the 78mm BBK combo piece. Should I replace that? And which cold air should I go with, currently have BBK but plan on switching it. Hear bends right before and after the MAF is bad. Thanks for the help guys.

JLT ram air is pretty nice and cheap, perosnally i'd go custom grind and an aftermarket manifold and spin that thing to about 7000 or higher, you'd prob make a good bit more power. I'd Leave the 78mm on there as well

As far as cat backs go...well that's up to you. We can all tell you our favorites, but it's all a matter of preference. I have SSS and highly recommend it, but that's my preference. Personally, which ever way you go, i'd do a straight through style muffler with that x pipe.
I'd keep your 78mm combo and CAI.
