What's nice is the new sixxer sounds pretty good, along with the 6 speed/31mpg part. Just don't be tempted to drive like an anus because that 31 mpg number will go down.

reading OPS post heres my take.

yes i think your crazy and its not that the v6 is a bad car. how much do you owe on your car? your going to go from either no payments or a small loan to an over 20,000$ car that by next year will be worth 15,000 or less.

if i were you and you want a faster car, i'd just get a termi or an 05-2010 GT, it will cost you the same amount of money or less than a brand new car that will deteriorate in value QUICK within the next 12 months. but thats just me. i probably won't ever buy a brand new car unless its something i know will hold some kind of value (plus my dad told me never buy the first year car that comes out, they always have problems and recalls).

Why would he get a 05 plus GT ? The termi yeah I can understand but the s197 GT ? Plus the new sixer has great potential and killer MPG. I say do it !

.....why not? The 3V has great potential too, and that fuel mileage from what magazine test drives report isn't as great as advertised. IMO it's still going to be better than the 3V but not by a whole lot in the real world driving.

I would not take anything from a test drive magazine to heart , they rated the Genesis # 1 car out of the mustang , Camaro and Challenger. There reviews are based on who has the highest bids.

why? because it's depreciated enough in value already that they can be had fairly cheap and will hold around that price for a few years, and will not drop 5-10,000$ in value over the next year or 2. they have much better potential than our old 2v's do with the simple boltons.

oh and forgot to mention a mach1 or even 99/01 cobra to the list of things i'd do over buying a brand new v6.

whatever money the OP saves with this magical super awesome 31mpg highway, will be made up for by his monthly car payments.

I'll wear pink panties and slam my 6-disc changer full of Justin Bieber before I go to a V6 for 31MPGs. Sure getting 300HP seems epic for a V6 but theres your problem, its a V6 whats gonna happen when you start modding it? People thought a New Edge was bad. As has been mentioned you can get an 05-09GT with those power levels, not have to eat $5,000 in depreciation as soon as you drive off the lot, still sound respectable and be able to grow.

LOL If you have the money why not spend it ? Who cares about car value these days ? I would rather have a steady car payment that is constantly adding positive credit marks to my report to enable my buying future (that is addressing on why should you have a car payment). As for the cost I would take a high powered smooth v6 w/a built engine and 6 speed tranny any day over a 5 speed v8, that extra 4-5 grand does not bother me nor someone who can afford it. 30 mpg and running 13's off the bat is really appealing for a 3.7 l car, add a turbo on that with some nice suspension and thats one hell of street car. I think allot of people are pissed that a new v6 will rape their bolt on v8's and keep up with the boosted v8's with little work done. If people are that worried about their financial needs that bad then maybe you should not be in this hobby.

good point i didn't even get to that. someone posted a thread the 5.0 GT got 36rwhp from a catback, midpipe, and intake...anyone seen any dyno graphs for the v6 on mods?

and greystang, if your so financially care free and have money comming out of your orifices, then why is the biggest turn on for everyone ive seen ranting over the v6 the estimated 19/31mpg?
