Default Methanol Injection...

Ive heard a few things about it but I dont really quite understand the concept or even what it does.
Could somebody explain what it is, how it works, what it does, and the pros and cons?

-Thanks

The only thing I know about it is what I remember Vin Diesel saying in the last Fast & Furious...."Only Pu$$ie$ use meth!"

Great question, I am curious to learn about it too.

Methanol injection lowers the intake air temperature it also increases the octane rating of your fuel, which will allow you increase the timing, In the case of a turbo or supercharger you may be able to increase your boost. Here is a detailed explanation of the benefits. http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.c...icle_info.html

To put it simply...I installed a Anderson Ford Motorsport MR. Freeze meth injection kit with my vortech v1. Before the kit my intake temps were 178* and after they dropped to pretty much the ambient temperature! About 90*. This is using basic -20 dgree rated windshield washer fluid! Without any tuning the car went from running 5* of timing at WOT because of the high temps to 15* with the cooler intake charge! It basically is a kit that sprays meth and water mix in the intake to cool the air. You also get pretty much 116 octane fuel once it injects too.

This will allow you to safely run more timing and a leaner mixture. Just have to keep an eye on the fluid level. At the track my tiny bottle used hardly any during my 3 pulls. My car is NIGHT and DAY difference with it!

OK, well ive got a non intercooled vortech kit that will be going on in a week or so. Does this mean that if I were to use meth that I wouldn't need to get an intercooler?
Also, If the Meth increases boost would there be a way to keep the power gains to a minimum because I don't want too much power with stock internals.

I didn't really notice a boost difference to be honest. And yes installing this kit (which is EXTREMELY easy) would keep you from needing an IC. You can run both but most drag racing guys I talk to prefer meth. And it's cheaper for me because shipping on a IC kit would cost a ton to Alaska. You will need to adjust your tune slightly for it.

Thats awesome.
So how do you go about "doing it" once you have it installed?
Meaning how do you fill it up, how long does one fill up last, etc etc...

Methanol injection doesn't increase boost, it will allow you run a smaller pulley which will create more boost. As far as running an intercooler that is up to you asking that question is going to get you various opinions on here, but the cooler the air intake temp the better off you will be.

the reason I ask is because I dont want to have too much power with stock internals
