I guess theres two things I really like about the vert. The breeze, and the sound. Exhaust, engine ect sound much clearer.

But I think you're right. I would enjoy a hard top more. I guess I'll stick to searching for a hard top.

Smile coupe or vert

I just purchased a GT with a Vista roof, i get the sun if i want, can close the shade, wasn't sure if i wanted the top down, considering the repair and color loss with time, i too jack up the Ac with the windows down,,,

you have already made up your mind it is a coupe. i love my vert thought which was the reason I got mustang in the first place. Only thing that sucks with a vert is need a 4 point cage for the track

You have to really want to put the top down to own a vert! I laugh at all the vert owners with the top up when the weather is nice! I think to myself why did you buy it if your not gonna put it down! I personally prefer the hard top but if a t-top was offered I'd go for it! Ah the 70's and 80's were good times!

verts are nice in the spring and fall, more noise, top and rear window replacements every xx yrs, easy for thieves. I wish the t-tops would come back as well.

ya the verts are nice but u will def want to use the ac...i had one for 6 months (01 gt) before i traded for the 05 gt coupe. I got lots of attention from females but i drove to the beach with the top down (i live like 20 min from beach) and got burned before i got there. I always turned on the ac cause the breeze wasnt enough, than my roof started leaking and it was 1800 to get a new one on. no more vert for me.

i only leave it up if i am on an important call, otherwise, my car always has the top down.
Clearly the choice of coupe vs vert is a personal choice, so just go with what makes you most comfortable. It sounds like you are more of a coupe guy, so go for it!!

Right, most of TX is hot all the time and sometimes too hot to put the top down. Nothing wrong with blasting the AC when the top is down to cool the cabin, however. I do this once in awhile...i figure if the roof were up, i'd still be blasting the air, so it isn't much different.

personally, i love being able to hear my intake, exhaust and tires clearly in my convertible. it is a real thrill for me. i get some sunburn once in awhile but it is so worth it!

good luck!

i'll ignore the chicks remark - that is lame.

as for the light bars, they also sell the bar without lights (called a "styling bar") in the ~$250 range. That's what i went with.

back to the chick remark, there could be something to that - i have had several hotties come up to me and ask for a ride in my car...damn i wish i had the coupe, lololol.
