buy an o/r midpipe and swap in the stocker for inspections. that will be the cheapest/easiest way to achieve more sound without hacking up your car.

I was in the same situation with just flows. I decided to go with a Magnaflow catted x, and its just right for me sound wise. Louder but not insanely loud. And i pass inspections without having to go through the trouble of taking it off/on.

well not really cheapest or easiest. Make your mufflers bolt in/bolt out and it's not "hacking up the car". Get louder mufflers.

If you just change the mufflers you won't have to worry about inspection since you will have a stock midpipe.

Just buy a new midpipe and then if you want a new catback save up for it.

I vote for a new mid pipe. Thats what im doin, wantin a dif sound. And i don't have the money for a new catback now that im buyin a new longblock so a new mid works perfectly for me!

Good luck w/ your decision...you know which to make haha.

You could get exhaust cut outs right behind the headers. So that way you can dump and close them as you need to

cutting out and re-welding in some other mufflers is introducing shop labor costs and a half assed cat back IMO. i still think swapping midpipes will be the easiest solution. plus if he ever changes his mind about the exhaust, all he has to do is swap out the midpipe and sell it. with his muffler swapped stocker he'd be stuck with no way to recoupe his costs.
