LOL @ this thread...

I bought one of the IAT resistor scam jobbers back in college. It was like a 47ohm resistor in some heat shrink with wires solder to either end...(I can't actually remember the value so 47 is arbitrary here)

The box type ones you see, are basically the same thing, only they have an enclosure to help reduce the risk of people realizing they are nothing but a resistor. Some of them are encased in a black gel that "protects from heat and vibration" but is really there to prevent a person from successfully dissecting it.

The theory as Cliff stated is spot on. In fact, the original site i bought one from back in the day explained the whole thing, except for the not working part lol. There is a list of all of these scams posted on several different automotive forums as stickies...this forum doesn't have one because...well...we aren't ricers lol.

Idk but i say we find a way to legally take it from them, shouldn't be hard lol.

I got feedback, excellent feedback even though I have not yet actually received, opened, or installed the "product"...

So, in addition to Idiot Savant I am also now proclaimed "A CREDIT TO EBAY!!". This poor sot has no idea of the approaching train wreck..

Cliffy opened it to find a resistor - he left a review, I see.

And apparently he's a real problem competitor for this guy, after his market

I received it, it is potted as we all suspected however both static and dynamic testing revealed it to be just a 22kΩ resistor that they have you wire in parallel with the IAT sensor.

I'm fgoing to use my much neglected blog to post my "review", but I need need to compete the entry--I'll get that done later today or tomorrow and post a link here.

Feel free to nag me about this...
