I was looking on eBay for a tuner, and i keep coming across chips like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perfo...item5ad9a408ca

Anyone know what the deal is with these?

Work or not work?

I have a feeling its a scam....

you prob plug it in to your OBII port and it just resets some computer values so the car has to "re-learn" them again, maybe fixing a previous error that made you feel slower.

I dunno haha. Im just makin **** up.

sorta like a throttle or plenum spacer. you spend money on it, and the theory behind it makes sense sorta, so your brain tricks your butt-dyno into thinkin it added HP.

spend the 20$ you'd waste on that, on a shorty antenna, the lesser air resistance and extreme weight savings will serve you better.. lol

And every one of those reviews must be legitimate, because it's well established that all eBay vendors are upright and honest merchants that would never misrepresent a product, or use shill feedback and testimonials...

Uh-huh...

--------------------------------------
They don't even show the two wires that connect the 8¢ resistor in the 75¢ box in series with the IAT output.

The IAT sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor--I.e. as in as the temp goes up it's resistance goes down and vice versa. So by placing another resistor in series with IAT the PCM thinks the intake air is colder that it really is, making the PCM run more advanced timing, and a bit richer; but in closed loop the short term fuel trim takes care of that.

In open loop the timing advance will still be there, as will the richer mix--and the last thing our cars need is to run richer at WOT.

Other than that I have no idea how it might work...

how is selling something like that even legal, claiming 35hp isn't false advertising?

i mean most sites claim a little high but i mean you could see 10-15 hp from exhaust with a fully built and blown car, but this, wtf is this.
