Tires/Wheels question.

Tires/Wheels question.
Ok guys. My friend owns a 2002 Mustang GT. He bought the Black 2003 Mustang Cobra wheels. The kind that replicate the ones on the 03 terminator. He got 17x9s in the front and 17x10.5s in the rear. Right now he has the regular GT size in the front 245/45/17s and is running Nexen n3000s. In the rear he has 275/40/17s and is running khumos. He doesnt like how the car sits because of the size (the front looks a little higher than the rear). I was wanting to know a good size to make the car look level and not have to roll the fenders or get wheel spacers or anything like that. Thanks in advance. (I know its just a nit-picky kinda thing, but we all want our stangs at their best!) By the way Mustang Week was awesome!! Thanks to all who came out and showed off their sweet rides.

245/45/17" tire = 25.7" diameter
275/40/17" tire = 25.7" diameter
This means that what your seeing is an optical illusion of some type, because the tires are the same height.
As for sizes, this can vary quite a bit and depends on the needs of the driver. One can run a 275/40/17" up front and a 315/35/17" out back and have the exact same height of your buddies existing tires. They will fill the wheel wells out MUCH more and likely be the look he is hoping to achieve. I recommend a 265 as an alternative, due to a bit more clearance they afford and better turn-in response on the corners.
As for tires, this is a per-user decision, but don't see much grip coming from the n3000's in any case. These are a very hard compound for performance driving, but see them as pretty good in the heavy wet conditions. I would expect high mileage from them, but would not expect to rip hard corners with them and hold the line very well.

As mentioned its optical but maybe the body of the car may cause this issue of height. Is it lowered? I run the same size tire on my car but the rear wheel offset causes that optical effect which makes the car sit way high and the tire really little.
