Default Mid pipe question

If I have a SLP LM1's exhaust set up with cats for my 97 mustang gt, how much of a difference will it make if I buy a slp X pipe or a bassani x pipe versus my regular stock H pipe? And how much of a difference do highflow cats make? Sorry for all the questions lol and thank you for all your help!

i know for a fact if you get the x pipe your car will be very loud and raspy from the x and the lm1s. thats a very loud setup right there. if you had no cats it would be louder, the cats muffle the sound too.

What sort of "difference" are you referring to?

If you are referring to performance there is very little to any "difference" to be had between the options you listed (except that the OEM "H" pipe was engineered to sound "cool" with performance a far distant secondary consideration)--the performance difference between "cats" and "no-cats" is marginal at best.

"High-flow" cats are a myth, they are simply cats that would normally be used on a larger displacement engine, or cats that don't really meet FDEP/FDOT specs.

With regard to "H" vs, "X" it's mostly a sound issue unless you want maximum performance. The "H" pipes have a more muscle car sound, the "X" pipes a more NASCAR sound.

From a performance perspective an "X" pipe will provide better scavenging at higher revs--if you are the sort that doesn't wind things out all the way and is mostly after the "sound" then get an "H" pipe. However if you really want to wring out the 2V out all the way get an "X"pipe.

All this said, to large extent I am not a good source for exhaust system advice because as I have said before, I wouldn't care if the exhaust sounded like Rosie O'Donnell farting if it added HP...

its not a new one he already asked about the LM1s like yesterday or the day b4 just checked the sceen name that pasted that thread. Just avoid those slp's at all cost too many tuned mufflers out there if you want the str8 through sound of the slp save ya money and weld in a str8 pipe vs LM1 or get a small glasspack vs LM2

Sorry didn't mean to sound like a d-bag in my last post...lol, just go by the general rule of thumb, if you cheap out, you'll notice it both visually and in the quality of sound.

If you go w/ the slp catted x i think you will have a nice sound. It will be loud...but not NEAR as raspy as it would be w/ an o/r x.

You should pick up an MRT catted h . Sickest sounding mid you can buy...VERY high quality.

Thats pretty poor advice-the resonators are called resonators for a reason, they resonate lol. Just because they are hollow, doesnt mean they are not tuned. LM1's are worth the money. If you want to cheap out and weld in some straight pipes, go buy a truck.

+ 1000 thats really crappy....if you welded in straight pipe and compared it to LM1s...you'd shoot yourself lol. It would just sound like crap

Nice try though lol

I'm not linking this to have you read and believe what is said in this, but more of for the pictures:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt...t-muffler.html

I won't waste my money on an LM1 because there is nothing special to it. Maybe I sound redundant since I have said this before on OTHER LM1 threads...but oh well. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes that have LM1's but I think they are a waste when I could make a LM1 muffler in my garage with some steel sheets, 2 2.5" sections of pipe and a welder. It's a shiney muffler delete lol
