Motor Help
300 is a pretty number that i have been looking into if i get more out of it obviously theres no problem... theres a lot of things i have considered i'm just trying to get an idea as to what i should do IF i have to do it... 400hp is out of the question i don't have deep pockets lol ... any other suggestions?
Budget build 101:
NPI shortblock(96-98gt)
Used PI heads, have them ported locally at a REPUTABLE machine shop
Cams of your choice(stage 2)
The shortblock you can get for usually around 300 bucks. Wether you rebuild it or not depends on you. Porting will be around 500 bucks, same with cams.
This stuff with a good tune and bolt ons will put you over the 300 mark(should). Thats enough to have a lot of fun, for not a whole hell of a lot of money....IF you can do the installs yourself.

i don't want to go with a bottle i personally prefer N/A motors it's nothing against any FI or shot just i feel more pride sayin "i built this horsepower" know what i mean... as time goes money is not really a problem... having to do it all at once would become a money problem
