Sounds like the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS), I replaced mine with cheap autzone sensors and they would only last about a season. My car would get the same symtpoms, sometimes its fine sometimes not. The sensors are mechanical so its like the spring inside it sticks or gets stretched causing it to send a false single to the ECU on the positioning of the butterflys in the throttle body. An easy way to check this is to unplug the connector on the sensor and start the car, if it idles normal and at you're normal RPM that is the issue. (Do not rev or go WOT with the sensor unplugged)
