And my friend launched at 3500rpm and completely screwed his axles and diff up...on a bolt on car with 4.10's and a 100 shot. So, as dime will tell you, with dr's and 28 splines, you're running on borrowed time.

Well, you could both be right. As KillJoy stated HP & torque are two different things. HP isn't breaking anything, its torque that measures the leverage that is going to break a weak component. Also, HP peaks in the upper rpm range where as torque peaks in the low rpm range. Nitrous (which adds more torque than HP) adds its max torque down low and drops off in the upper range. So my logic says a high rpm launch with spray should theoretically be easier on the rear given that both cars have similar set ups and power curves. The low rpm launch is the more abusive of the two.

I don't think this is sound advice. If you plan to launch it hard at the track, you will put 31 splines in it eventually. You should do it BEFORE you break it at the track. I have seen factory 28 spline axles broken by cars with far less than 350rwhp. If you shock these axles, you can break them. Everyone is entitled to what they wish, but to advise someone else not to upgrade to 31 splines before abusing it at the track, is not helpful to them.

My 2 cents...

People.... Horse power has NOTHING to do with breaking things.... it is GRIP! If you get enough "hook", you WILL break the weakest link in your driveline. All DR's are not created equal, so this cannot be the sole deciding factor in when to upgrade axles and such.

In general, if one is going to be hitting the track and always looking for that illusive 1/10th..... just upgrade the **** out of EVERYTHING on the driveline to be safe.

To focus on upgrades only as HP/T climbs, is a mistake.

Jazzer.... givin' it to his pepes, hardcore like

And im on stock rear **** with 4.10s
