NITROUS OXIDE
Alright guys
Just got the new 2003 Mustang GT auto. Lovin' it so far. Bought it with SLP exhaust and K&N air filter. Pretty sure everything else is stock. It also has a monstrous subwoofer setup in the trunk which I am going to remove for weight.
I'm looking for significantly more power for a significantly cheap price. The car is also a daily driver so I need the car to survive day to day and to be low maintenance. It will be used 98% of the time as a regular commuter. 2% will be for highway fun/racing/drag strip. I don't need a camshaft in the car to make it buck and lope driving around town. I want something that is only used on the rare occassion where I gotta open her up and show the competition some Mustang tail lights.
The 2% is where the nitrous comes in lol. I have a wet shot setup that I had previously installed on my corvette Z06. It has bottle warmer, rpm shutoff, WOT switch, blow back pipe, gauge, etc. Real good expensive setup with all the safety equipment. I'm seriously thinking about getting it installed in the Stang.
So can anybody give me the low-down on Nitrous on these cars. Is nitrous safe on these motors and transmissions? How big of a shot can I use? Wet vs Dry? Install is a piece of cake I am assuming, right? How does it get tuned for Nitrous?
Thanks a lot bros!

Yes nitrous is safe if installed correctly. 100-125 shot without needing to upgrade anything other than the plugs. Since you have a wet kit already just stick with that, it's cheaper also since you don't have to buy injectors or a dyno tune. Once you get it hooked up, buy a handheld tuner and pull 2* of timing for the 100-125 shot.

I was thinking about getting the car dyno-tuned anyway since most of the good shops have an in-house dyno and I'd prefer to be "safe than sorry."
And 100 or 125 shot is fine for the transmission and the stock motor huh? Good to hear that. God bless America.
yewa just get a tuner (sct is good) take out 2 degree's of timing and pick up some ngk tr6 plugs and your ready to go although most dont go over a 100 shot un tuned it sounds like you want a dyno tune so i would just put the 125 jet in and run that
Before I take the car in to the shop, I just want to get some feedback on a wet shot's safety. In the past, I've used 2 different wet shot kits on 2 different cars with very nice results. I never had explosions or anything of the kind. I never went with dry because the cars I had them installed on didn't have ECU's that would add enough fuel in so that's why we went with wet shots. But I read a bit about Mustangs blowing up because of fuel puddling in the intake tract/TB. Any ways to prevent this on the 2003 GT with a wet kit or is it just a risk associated with it?
PovertyPony, I hear ya bro. Imagine me spraying on a 60mph roll in my old Z06 with stock runflat tires and doing a 360 down the highway LOL. I will see how traction is and adjust accordingly.
I mean id get a tune just to be on the safe side. Im actually looking to have nitrous on this thing this summer maybe if the funds all work out. But w/ my forged motor im lookin for a 150 shot lol.
But yea sounds like you know what parts you need...just the colder plugs...take timing out w/ a tune and ur golden.
Tires would be a good thing as well...if not suspension.

Very good forums right here. I've been on some where you get no help. Within 3 hours I have all the answers I need lol. Thanks again dudes.
So...you guys think with the basic mods I have (slp exhaust + k&n filter) plus maybe a 100 shot and custom tune that I can break sub-13's and 11xmph range? My GF and I want to hit the track within the next few weeks and we'd love to take the GT-R and the Mustang to see what numbers they'll post up. I know I know, proper tires and suspension is a must, but I want to keep it still very streetable and daily driver oriented, plus on a tight budget since the GT-R is killing me lol.

You better run 12's with a 100 shot even with minor suspension mods and a somewhat sticky tire. Back in the day, I ran 12.7's (1.8-1.9 60's) on a 100 shot, stock motor, stock tranny, 3.73's and Nitto Dr's.
