Where is the squeek coming from? Please Help
I have a 2001 Mustang GT. Since the weather has gotten much colder, there has been a squeak under the hood. When I put the clutch in, the squeak goes away. The clutch works well as it always has. Sometimes the squeak is louder than other times. Sometimes, there isn't a squeak at all. This is rare however. I do not know where the source of the squeak is coming from? Does anyone know what it could be?
not tryin to steal the thread but if you..just happend to start hearing this the other day how long do you have to fix it and if not soon enough wat happens?? haha being in school hard to find time to get back home to garage.
Throwout bearing 100%. I just replaced mine back in September. Mine squeaked for about 2k miles before the thing completely failed. I bought a replacement off of Lethal's website for around 65 bucks and it has been perfect since. Where in CT are you?
To answer the other question, I think how long you have until it fails depends on how hard you drive it. When mine was failing, I had no idea what the hell it was and drove the shlt out of the car trying to get the sound to be louder so I could easily diagnose the problem. Eventually what will happen when it fails, is you will lose all pressure in your clutch.

Many things "could" happen. Clutch could get stuck engaged, disengaged(happened to me) or anywhere in between. It could completely eat the prongs off the clutch, make a rut in the output shaft tube(also happened to me) or even get so hot from rubbing on the clutch that it will, for lack of better words weld itself to the output shaft tube. The resulting shifting/clutch issues could lead to severe internal trans damage, synchros are the first thing I'd imagine would go bad.

Btw, I would not recommend getting a FRPP to bearing. My personal experience with them is bad. Almost as bad as Spec(didn't last 120 miles after install). The best luck I have had was with Timken. Get one for like $20 at your local parts store. The main body of the bearing is kevlar. I have one on my Cobra and my old 03 GT. Zero issues whatsoever.
