Default torque converter

Whats up guys, lookin to buy a high stall reasonably priced. Getting prices all over the place, just want some opinions. Hughes quoted me $929, dirty dog quoted $785, new hampton quoted $601. So obviously new hampton was the best priced and it seems to include most of the things the others do such as billet cover, triple disc lock up, furnace brazed etc. I know dirty dog and hughes have very good reps, just wondering if anyone has used new hampton or any other company for that matter. Lookin for a 4000+ stall btw.

My vote goes to Dirty Dog. I own one and love it.

Darrin is the transmission guy, Alan at DD is the converter guy. That's what Darrin told me and that's how it was when they worked together, not saying Darrin can't make a great converter also.

I tried emailing Alan one time actually trying to figure out the direction I need to take, and I never got a response back. That was at least 2 weeks ago. Best way to get them by phone?

he actually emailed me back last week. We were going back and forth and then he went silent when i asked where to tune...found out about jdm and bigdaddy though. Just wish there were tuners closer to me, im up in northern jersey and the closest seems to be about an hour away. I think i'm just going to give everything to one of these companies cuz i'm doing a head and cam swap too. Let them do everything

yea he seems like a good guy. He told me to get a 4200 stall with cms stage 2 cams. Said as long as its tuned right, street driving is no problem. I know you have a 3800 stall and love it so i wont go less than that most likely.

Ya I've never actually tried emailing him I always called. He usually works crazy hours so I try and get him during then. He almost always answered and was very helpful even after I bought the converter.

Matt, I take it you have a PI swapped GT?

I'm doing everything together so yea im putting patriot stage 2s in it with cms stage 2 cams. And i'm probably gonna get a 4000 stall for it. Doing everything at the same time so i dont have to get it tuned twice. Its like 650 bucks for a tune so its not something i wanna have to pay for twice.

another vote for dirty dog here. i've never called always emailed and he usually responds quickly for me. My converter was 750 shipped and that was a 3800 stall with the billet cover. I believe his hours are 12-12 or something like that. i know it's noon to sometime late.
