I have NITTO NTO5R Drag Radials in the back (315/35/17) and couldnt be happier! They also do ok in the rain but are clearly not made for the rain.... I personally only run NITTO's cause they stick for me and are usually cheaper in costs compared to other tires..... The Nitto 555R Drag radia lget my thumbs up as well!

I also have 245/45/17 Nitto 555's up front

Any drag racing tire isn't going to be ideal with corners. The ET streets are bias ply tires. Also, even with a drag radial I don't think you'll have any problems with an occasional spirited turn. It's not like your tires will fall off on a hard turn

Oh, and I have no complaints with my Nitto DRs.

Ive got 295 NT05's on mine and they hook up pretty well. If it's warm out and slipping the clutch in first I can get a good amount of traction from them. I havent gotten the chance to take them in any good corners yet though.

NT05's corner well...ask me how I know

But OP, Toyo R888's are great for cornering and hook up well in a straight line too! Guys over on SVTP love them on their cobras!

What is the best route if you want that look but are just driving on the street? The 555s?

I run the NT555Rs . I have had a buddy with NT05Rs with pullied cobra and it use to bog down at hard launches. They hook really well. Im a favorite of Hoosier Quick time pros. They stick!

NT555's are a great tire for street driving with street tire manors. If you try to hook in a straight line or in corners, you'll want something else. NT555's worked well for me though for a good 20k miles, and they had some miles on them when I bought them used.

I've run drag radials since I owned my car pratically, Im on a set of 315/35/17 toyo TQ drags now and I can tell ya they hook nice and they handle just fine as well but they WEAR FAST, faster than any other radials I've ever run. I've also had Nitto nt555rs, and BFG drag radials all in the same size. Honestly I loved the nt555rs, they hooked well and they lasted long. The bfg hooked almost identical but wore alot faster.
