compression check procedure

compression check procedure
i have done a lot of research but still have a few things im not sure about.
cold or warm?
spray w/d 40 or PB blaster into spark plug hole?
disconnect fuel pump relay?
Any Advice on this would be helpful i would like to get started asap.
