I am probably not going to mod the car like crazy or anything, I just want a cruiser for the most part now. What is the most reliable out there? I will be working on it myself wanting to learn about the car and engine (gotta start somewhere) and hopefully teaching my son a few things. What is the rated power/torque for the 1996-1998 Cobra's? The 03-04 Cobra is way out of my price range (for a decent one).

I agree with CRASH...
I'd look for a MACH1 first, and a Bullitt if a MACH1 isn't in the cards for you.

Best bang for the buck is a MACH1 (my opinion).
I was in a tight budget situation when I was shopping for my Mustang so I went with a Bullitt. The 4V motor would be a real nice upgrade for my car.

Why would you say the Mach 1 is the best bang for the buck? Why not the 1996-98 Cobras?

Compared to an 03/04 Mach, age is # 1. The Mach is going to be 6-8 yrs newer.

PI vs non-PI engine.

T-45 vs TR3650 (if you go manual tranny, auto Im not sure about) (or did those Cobras have the T-56 then too? My friend had one and I can't remember now).

The Mach 1/Bullitt and the 96-98 Cobra have the same power output though, don't they? Not familiar with the tranny's, but they are both 5-speed I take it?

The Mach 1 and '96-'98 Cobra are in the same ballpark, the 2001 Bullitt is the same motor as the GT with a slightly different intake. IIRC it was rated 265 fwHP versus the GT's 260...

Isn't the 96-98 Cobra rated at 305? It is going to come down to price of all things, if I can get a newer GT/MACH 1/Bullitt for the same price as an older Cobra, what would you do? I know that the older ones might have more issues.

I dont know, the choices!!!!!!!
