interesting.

hey ctgreddy, are you running an aftermarket valve body? ever consider a MVB/transbrake?

also, is that a 4.6 stang trans? i really want to crack one open from a 5.4 and build it from the ground up.

The 4r70w has been used in many vehicles -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_AOD_transmission

yea, i was just wondering if the one he got was from a 4.6 or a 5.4, that article mentioned that a 4r70w taken from a 5.4 vehicle is a typical better platform to upgrade from for high HP applications, and longevity purposes...

edit: i think more specifically it might have been referring to a 4r75w?

even if they were built a "little" stronger, still makes no sense to me to build the whole tranny and just stick a stock part that has potential of failure especially with some heavy juice or boost.

The 4r75w is a stronger trans than the 4r70w.

The trans is out of a 2000 mustang. I'm not too worried about the input shaft at this time, my buddy with 540whp is on his bone stock trans out of his 02 stang with no issues after 10k miles. So I'll give her a try for now.

Also I'm sticking with the automatic valve body since this is my dd. Alans sending me a good shift kit for it tho so I'll get to see how his compares to the trans go kit I had in the last trans. Also if anyone wants to buy the valvebody with the transgo kit already on it I'll sell it

wow, your buddy is far and few between...trust me. I have 5 close buddies with blown or juice'd mustangs and all our 4R70W's seem to crap out anywhere between 370-450rwhp in given time....guess it depends on how you drive the car

he's not the hardest on vehicles. but then again, being that my car is a nitrous car, and i've only gone thru 2 bottles in the past 3 months that it's been installed, the trans wont see all the torque very often.
