If you're looking at cams, you might as well hold off and just do the $1500 s/c build.

numbers like those are why I wonder why I want to even mess with swapping a mod motor into my 4 eye....not doing it for the HP though so that could be why.....

Once you spend the money on some internal/head mods OP you will be closer if you are going NA....F/I is gonna get you more bang for the buck...

Yea...its pretty pointless. The mod motors dont offer much over the old pushrod 5.0s really.

If I was looking for straight power no they don't.....BUT if I was to drop in a Mark VIII 32V and auto trans in a 4 eye I can get anywhere from 25-30mpg out of it and still have close to 300hp at the wheels.

I'm gonna be doing it for the cool factor and I am swapping a complete SN interior as well.....sticking to plans I have had for a long time...

ill admit the mod motors are 1000X smoother than the pushrod ones but thats about ALL they have over them 9well, and the blockare a lot stronger too, just not the internals)

say what you want but i think the pushrods just have a lot more soul to them and they look better too

Ive had a 5.0 pushrod car and my current car is a 2v 4.6

You are right about the mod motors being smoother and they probably get better MPG for the most part.

The blocks are strong on the 4.6 but that doesnt really matter when the pistons and rods are junk.

The 3v and 4v 4.6s are better, but the 2vs arent any better than the old 5.0s, thats for sure.

Mod motors need boost to do anything.

I will agree with you, something about the old pushrod 5.0s just gets to you. They have soul.

agreed, if i can spend ~$4000 and build a COMPLETE 302 (oil pan up) that makes $350rwhp when that money alone would barely cover the cost of a set of 4.6 TFS heads and cams, you know there's a better way to do things lol...

not to mention the sound a pushrod motor makes at idle with a nice cam in it is AMAZING <3
