Thanks kerns.

Can anybody tell me why my car has been starting up fine ever since this happened last week? I haven't driven it but i start it up here and there and it starts up everytime now! WTF!

Even when my car wouldn't turn over last wednesday, we punched my gas tank and i was able to drive it home...

Why is my car doing this to me?

dwtjr3 -- my car would not turn over on wednesday of last week when i was done with work. it started fine in the morning and i drove to work like usual. then when i went to come home from work the car would just crank and not turn over.

So lucky for me my mechanic is half a block away from where i work and he came over and tried a couple things and eventually he got to the back of my car, laid down, and said turn the key while i hit your gas tank. after a couple heavy slams and a few turns of the key, the car finally fired up and it's been working fine ever since.

He said that hitting the fuel tank helps jolt the fuel pump or something. idk.

update for the day is that i drove the car to work and just got back. everything was fine. i actually hear the pump turning on again when i have the key to the "ON" position.

i have absolutely no idea what's going on...

I'm just gonna wait for this b*tch to burn out at this rate. I can afford to have the car down for a few days if i need to. I have another car i daily. I just don't want to spend the money to fix it if it's working right now. I need closure on this. So it either better keep working or break down on me soon while i'm home!

The pump motor probably has a dead spot in it. Once the pump stops on that particular spot again, it won't work.

Hitting the gas tank is and old trick. It jolts the pump motor, same theory as hitting a dead starter with a hammer to start a car...
