Tires
I have Continental Extreme contact DWS. It's an all season tire, which I need up here in Indiana. It feels absolutely no different when driving in the rain vs dry conditions. It's also supposed to perform very well in snow. It's the top rated all season tire on tire rack.
They also make a tire called the extreme contact DW, which is only rated for dry and wet conditons that's supposed to be good.

There are several models of Sumitomo's, just like there are several models of Mustang
They are not all created equal and the HTR Z I's are the ones most get and have a horrible reputation for lack of grip. The HTR Z III's are what I am referring to here and are a nice tire.Jazzer
2-3 yr old nitto 555's in the rain , under even half throttle in 2nd gear break loose easy at like 30-50 mph on a stock car
they have 20k miles on them or so but they still have alot of tread
braking in the rain seems to be fine however, somehow

Ya... the II"s are proabably pretty good in the wet, but don't see them doing well on latteral or straight line grip. The tread pattern reminds me of the Eagle F1 GS-D3's and they are a nice tire, but leave a lot to be desired with latteral grip

Personally, having been through a couple sets of tires in my time, I have some input.
NT05's: Great dry traction and pretty good wet weather traction. With my 4.10's, from a standing start I got traction in 1st gear...in the rain. Dry weather was about the same. They were great.
Nankang's: Sucked. Sidewalls split before have the tread was gone. Got the wheels from a friend who had those tires put on. Worst tire I've had, besides an old Pirelli Asymetrico.
NT555's: Good street tire. Not very wide channels for water to evacuate to, but they did ok. They did not like my 4.10's however. Got them to smoke it in my high school parking lot up to 4th gear. I have the burnout pictures to prove it. Overall happy with the tire. Not the best/stickiest tire out there but they make a good spirited commuter tire for sure.
Toyo RA1: Great tire. Excellent wet weather traction and AWESOME dry weather traction. Also, great cornering grip. By far the best tire I've had on my car yet.
I'd like to try the INVO's sometime but the widths offered do not appeal to me because the largest 18" size they have is a 295, which on a 10.5" wheel is not enough IMO. I'd like a 305 or a 315 but no dice. I'd say the INVO's are the best commuter tire though for wet and dry conditions.

Little late but I ended up getting some sumitomo lsw something or other. Anyway, definantely feel the difference between a doodoo tire and a good tire. Dry grip is as expected its dry. Wet grip is what I feel phenomenal. No Tire spin and just feels solid. Had to get used to the feel of the car after it was different for sure.
